Science and activities wiithin science buildings has historically not been particularly environmentaly aware. The drivers have been the innovation and delivery of new science projects and products and often in order to provide the right environments recognition of the 'green' elements have not been taken into consideration.

Increasingly there is desire to produce more environmental science buildings and facilities supported by Green operations. Scientists and architects are actively working together to design and develop new ways of building and modifying science facilities and changing ways of working to a more sustainable balance.
